The initiator of the conference was the Council of Young Scientists of the Department of Earth Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The conference was held for the first time in the status of International.

101 applications were received to participate in the conference. 48 scientific works have been accepted for publication in the Conference Proceedings. During the two days of the conference, 31 oral presentations were heard and discussed.

Young scientists from the following scientific institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine took part in the conference: Institute of Geological Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Institute of Geography of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Subbotin Institute of Geophysics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Semenenko Institute of Geochemistry, Mineralogy and Ore Formation of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, State Institution “Scientific Centre for Aerospace Research of the Earth” of the Institute of Geological Science of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Institute of Geotechnical Mechanics named after M.S. Polyakov of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

The conference was attended by students and young scientists from the following higher education institutions and scientific institutions of Ukraine: Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, National Transport University, H.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University, Borys Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory.

The conference was attended by students and young scientists from scientific institutions and higher education institutions of other countries: Mexico (Instituto Politécnico Nacional; El Colegio de la Frontera Sur; Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia, Centro Baja California Sur), Canada (Prismo Metals Inc), Nigeria (University of Port Harcourt), Ethiopia (Addis Ababa Science and Technology University), Malawi (Geological Survey Department), Algeria (Farhat Abbas University; Echahid Cheikh Larbi Tebessi-Tebessa University), Australia (Curtin University), Japan (Kyushu University), Poland (Institute of Geological Sciences – Polish Academy of Sciences), Germany (Technische Universität Berlin), Turkey (Ege University).

On the first day of the conference for young scientists, two reports were given by representatives of the world’s leading geological associations on the following topics:

«OPPORTUNITIES FOR EARLY CAREER GEOSCIENTIES IN INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION ON THE GENESIS OF ORE DEPOSITS» (Thomas Belgrano);

«OPPORTUNITIES FOR EARLY CAREER GEOSCIENTIES IN INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SEDIMENTOLOGISTS» (Olena Ganzha).

At the invitation of the Council of Young Scientists of the Department of Earth Sciences, the following reports were presented by leading scientists within the framework of the conference:

«TRACKING THE PORPHYRY – EPITHERMAL MINERALIZATION TRANSITION USING U-PB CARBONATE DATING» (Catherine Mottram, – University of Portsmouth, UK);

«ARCS AND RIFTS – TWO DISTINCT METALLOGENIC SETTINGS» (John Thompson, –PetraScience Consultants, Vancouver, Canada;University of Bristol, UK; Cornell University, USA; University of British Colombia, Canada);

«EARTH OBSERVATION DATA AND CLOUD PROCESSING FOR LAND DEGRADATION EARLY WARNING: EWALD PROJECT OVERVIEW» (Mykola Lubskyi, – State Institution “Scientific Centre for Aerospace Research of the Earth” of the Institute of Geological Science of the NAS of Ukraine, Kyiv, Ukraine).

The members of the organizational and scientific committees in the final discussion stated that all the reports presented at the conference reflect the main directions of geological science. Many reports have a rather high scientific potential.
